    Blitz on speeding motorists

MERSEYSIDE is to be blitzed by speed cameras to try to cut the rising number of people killed and injured on the region’s roads.

A new agency set up by Merseyside police with local councils will increase the number of sites where officers will use mobile cameras to catch drivers breaking the speed limit.

The force hopes this will lead to a massive rise in the number of speeding fines handed out this year – up from 20,000 in the past 12 months to 50,000 next year.

The 150% rise would lead to motorists in Merseyside facing charges totalling £3m next year – with three penalty points on each driver’s licence.

Police hope the additional use of cameras will help slash the number of people involved in serious accidents.

The government set a 10-year target for Merseyside police to force down the number of road deaths in the area from 841 in 2000 to less than 500 in 2010.

But the force is nowhere near reaching its targets – with the number of people killed actually going up rather than down in both 2002/ 03 and 2003/04.

The new strategy has been drawn up by police to try to bring this figure down while the Merseyside Road Safety Camera Partnership will be launched in April to target speeders.

LOVE IS GIVING SOMEONE THE ABILITY TO DESTROY YOU, THEN TRUSTING THEM NOT TO.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, Vodka in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming…….WOO HOO, what a ride!
