Melandri okay after crash
Marco Melandri set a consistent pace on the first day of tests at Phillip Island on Thursday until his day was cut short by a crash.
Melandri was riding the Honda RC211V for the first time at one of his favourite circuits and was lucky to escape unhurt from the incident, which interrupted an otherwise positive session of 84 laps with a best time of 1’31.3.
“I think I can be more than happy with the job we have done today because I have set a consistent rhythm in 1’31,” explained Melandri. “We were testing out some modifications to the front fork and I pushed a little harder than usual and crashed in turn 5.
“I didn’t hurt myself but I was annoyed because it cost me a good hour of the session. After the crash I decided to end the test until tomorrow because we want to make a series of modifications to the bike.
“In particular I’d like to find a gearbox setting which is more suited to my style.”

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, Vodka in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming…….WOO HOO, what a ride!
