After years on Metzelers fitted to a variety of bikes I decided to try a pair of Bridgestone BT020 on my Yamaha Thundercat. Done about 125 miles so far and I’m impressed.
Had them fitted at WAS Auto Centre in Worcester (01905 350 315). Rode in, they did all the work, £200 and rode out. Good service. Lad who fitted my tyres had a ZX6R, and all the fitters like bikes. Might be worth a try for those of you in the area.
Sorry to say but I never had a set of Bridgestones on any bike. I always went for Avon in the end as they gave the best grip/wear combo. Must try some one day.
Just put a set of bridgestone BT45’s on mine in place of the Metzelers.
What a transformation – I can now go around corners without breaking out in a nervous sweat[

Interesting to see somebody else switching from Metzeler to Bridgestone. Let us know if it carries on OK.
I have not bought Avons since I got a set for my RD250LC back in 1984!
I now have a puncture in my rear tyre.
A 1 – 2mm diameter piece of steel, like that you might see re-inforcing a truck tyre or some such has neatly embedded itself smack in the middle of my shiny new Bridgestone.
A combination of crazy times at work and a lousy summer means I have only put about 500 miles the since I fitted the tyres.
Can I get the puncture fixed or am I going to have to bite the Bullet and get another new tyre fitted???

Donate – it makes you feel good!Personally, I would never have a puncture on a bike tyre repaired. If it goes flat fast at a crazy speed, bye bye! Saying that, I do know people who have done it and they are still alive today! Though none of these people repaired punctures on high performance bikes with ZR17 rated tyres. Saying that, 2mm diameter puncture is small so might be perfectly safe to repair. Probably the best thing to do would be to get in touch with tyre manufacterer and get their advice.

I think your’e right – I am just in denial that I am going to have to shell out again after so few miles.
Donate – it makes you feel good!You can hardly be blamed for not wanting to shell out again for a new tyre after so few miles! Expensive things these tyres! It may still be worth you talking to tyre specialist or manufacterer of tyre though, cos tyres and related products are constantly being developed so they may have the answer you want to hear!

That is a good idea for bikes like my old GS, but can you fit tubes to modern bikes with wide rims/radial tyres???
Should of bought a real bike Radar!!
Never heard of tubing a tubeless tyre! All this damn talk of punctures…! Like you Radar, havent had front tyre on long and have picked up a lovely big nail! Now I am really annoyed! I have been picking nails up off the path and grass outside back gate where some little t**t has been kindly leaving them! Must have missed one! Bugger! I shall skin the little gits alive if I catch ’em!

You can stick a tube in anything, whether or not you should is a source for debate – the tyre manufacturers saying you shouldn’t and people with punctures saying you should. I have run a tube in the front wheel of my gsx now since last year and it hasn’t let me down yet….

h – up to 130, near enough for me as it doesnt spend that much of its life over that – and it was the cheapest one i could find in the part worn pile!
