01/06/2018: Old Rose and Crown Bike Night:

Thanks to our somewhat erratic summer weather last weeks meeting had been washed out, but this time the sun was out so it was out with the bikes for the short hop over to Stourport on Severn for the meet. My daughter joined me riding her Lexmoto 125 and I even persuaded the Mrs to perch precariously on the back of my MV Agusta. She hates that bike much preferring the expansive pillion accommodation my elderly Thundercat 600 offers.

There was a good turnout this week, despite the sky clouding over. The ‘Bar-be-Que’ food was prepared indoors as a precaution – isn’t that just a cooker then?! The chap who runs the coals was taking some friendly banter for not lighting up outside. Nonetheless the cheeseburgers were excellent whenever and however they were cooked!

The two main things at any bike meet are the people and of course the bikes, and here the folk are friendly and the bikes varied. I enjoyed talking to a lad about his trip around the Scottish NC500 he undertook recently and to a bloke who rocked up on a Bomdardier Spyper in full ‘Spiderman’ colours. Some of the kids really loved that one

My favourite was a cool Kawasaki cafe racer/brat (I get confused) and it made me wish I had come on my old Kwak cafe racer too. Turns out the guy who owns it is married to one of my daughter’s colleagues…small world and all that

The storm clouds did start to gather so after a good mooch about the bike park, downing a most welcome shandy it was back on the bikes for the short hop home
