Wondered up to the Foodstop Cafe, just outside Bridgnorth last Sunday to meet up with Andy (aka ‘Thumper’). I took my cafe racer 550 while Andy was on his BMW. It was his first proper outing of the year. Good to get out, talk rubbish, eat too much salad and take in some really lovely bikes in the ‘car’ park. For some reason virtually every other bike was some sort of classic or special…excellent stuff. Anyway a few pictures
Yamaha FZ750 with a 1000cc twist. Looks great with the single seat conversion too. Reminds me of the standard example I ran from 1991 until 2000
Now that’s a cafe racer…
Lovely BSA
Stunning US spec Honda SL450 with a motor shared with the legendary CB450 ‘Black Bomber’. Cool SP370 too…when did you last see one?
Honda Paris Dakar inspired Honda…no problems with tank range here!
The original ZX10. A friend of mine bought one of these in 1990 and still has it. On that bike as a pillion I went the fastest I have ever been on the road. Not saying how fast, but it was a tad naughty…
A modern bike on a classic theme…XSR900 with a few cool mods and a fantastic KR tribute paint job…
My cafe racer at the cafe…of course!
Air cooled heavy metal…Honda CB900F. Not 100% sold on purple, but a great bike
Imperial Data (The Great leader) had one of these new back in the day…GPz750 Unitrak. Don’t ask him about the fire engine on the M54….
I wasn’t the only one on a converted Jap bike…the dowdy XJ600 Diversion has been effectively turned into something more sporting
Andy and his BMW, a happy man who had clearly enjoyed his saladSo another free bike show at Foodstop!!

My last bike before the kids-induced-layoff was an SP370 – lovely little single that I regret selling almost as much as my first proper bike…

I never had a problem starting the SP, but then I was raised on kick starting old Brit bikes. Once got launched over the handlebars while attempting to start my A10 Super Rocket. Learnt to let go of the handlebars sooner….

Didn’t take photos ‘cos it was a rush to get to my local pub after an afternoon/evening tree-felling on the estate . So likewise, I did have a short but sweet ride out.
Going to have to get a little trail bike if I want to keep up with this gang – their pub meet-ups are every Wednesday, year round. Except if it falls on Xmas day, then apparently it gets shunted to the Thursday :.
So I’m looking for a DR350 with ice tyres

May 22, 2018 at 5:53 pm #70027imperialdataKeymasterI’m quite liking that XSR900. Some nice bikes turned out it seems.
