Direct from JLR:
Supporting our goal to create opportunities for 12 million people by 2020, Land Rover South Africa sponsored last week’s ‘Bikers for Mandela Day’ by taking a fleet of Discoverys on a visit to communities in Mozambique. The project’s aim this year was to inspire women and girls who are victims and survivors of gender based violence, to help restore their confidence. While in Mozambique, the team also educated locals about the fight against Malaria. Bikers for Mandela is part of the celebrations marking Nelson Mandela’s birthday. Now in its seventh year, the community initiative was inspired by the former South African President’s private secretary Zelda la Grange. A keen biker, Zelda encourages others to get out on two wheels to help others in remote areas. JLR South Africa colleagues also took the opportunity on Mandela Day to launch their ‘Hope Crosses Any Terrain’ #LRHOPEBOXES campaign. Hope boxes will be in every Jaguar and Land Rover retailer until the end of August, collecting non-perishable items to donate to the South African Red Cross.
