Again not got any wheels. Airsoft this time
Spent the day with a hacksaw and Dremel today:
To fit the new quad rail which turned up today:
Just need to source a super skinny battery as the old plastic foregrip used to hold the standard one and no room on the new rail
Want to get some carbon fibre bits made up in the future, basically all the remaining plastic parts: butt, dust cover and pistol grip.
August 7, 2013 at 9:56 pm #66619RadarModeratorIs that based on the appearance of a SA80?
August 8, 2013 at 10:31 am #66620HippoDronesParticipantits a cross over of real and made up. It is based on the L86/SA80 A2 but is a carbine version so slightly shorter barrel.
Fires in semi and full auto, currently about 20rps at 350fps. Have just upgraded the barrel to a tightbore and when I sort the hop-up (puts a backspin on the BBs) should improve its range considerably. Sniper rifles can have an effective range of over 300+ feet.

Not much experience with air soft gear, do you have to blue them or are they painted/powder coated/whatever? If you blue, what do you use? Liquid or gel? I’ve been using the gel but have ordered some liquid, it’s difficult to get an even finish with the gel so gonna try the liquid.

Aye the claymores are rather cool
Not sure what you mean by blue them? You on about making the guns 2 tone so they don’t look like realistic fire arms? If you are over 18 and have a defense you can buy RIFs, under 18s have to have 2 tones. It is not illegal to own RIFs tho, just to buy them without being old enough or with no defense (UKARA membership).August 22, 2013 at 3:45 pm #66628GixParticipantNo you got wrong end of stick.
Rifle and shotgun barrels are not stainless. The black finish on them is ‘blueing’, a chemical that you paint on to barrel (after removing old blueing with chemical remover and degreasing), then you re oil with a light oil to protect. I was wondering if air soft gear had stainless barrels or if you had to maintain like shotties or air rifles.August 22, 2013 at 4:46 pm #66629HippoDronesParticipantahh soz.
My L86 (SA80) and pistols have a copper barrel which I pull through with a cloth every couple of uses and every now and then I’ll polish them with autosol. My M4 has a metal barrel, think it is possibly aluminium and will treat that the same. When polished/cleaned I run them through with a bit of cloth with some silicone spray on it.
August 22, 2013 at 7:01 pm #66630GixParticipantSounds a lot easier than blueing! Takes me hours to strip and reblue! But it does look nice once done
