As a former owner of a Yamaha XJR1300SP, a butch, but creamy smooth bike,  I was very keen to ride one it’s principle rivals….the Suzuki GSX1400. So when a mate chucked the keys of his gleaming 2006 example to me offering me a go, I was only too happy to take him up on his generous offer.

The big Suzuki is actually the largest capacity bike that I have ever ridden, if some way off the most powerful, but having done 20 miles or so, power is not what this bike is about. If anything this bike is even smoother than my old XJR, if lacking a little of the Yamaha ‘attitude’. The GSX is so easy to ride and the weight melts away on the move. I only wafted about on her and didn’t push, so as speeds climb it may be more of a handful. Good brakes, very comfortable, slick gearbox, but somehow lacking.

Lovely, but a bit bland…I would have my XJR or a ZRX over this big Suzi.

A mate of mine had one and he loved it, he was slightly on the larger side so think it suited him. Good review though
