In addition to this rather wonderful forum I also contribute to another that is dedicated to all things Yamaha Thundercat related. It is a small but friendly site, rather like this one, and there big thing is group gathering three or four times a year dotted around the UK. I help to organise a run that is based in Shropshire but runs into Wales for the actual ride out element. Anyway as was part of a group of three Thundercat riders who checked out the proposed route yesterday and what an incredible 285 miles of riding I clocked up! I am telling you that North Wales has some awesome roads that run over senery the equal of anything I have seen in the UK. The weather for the time of the year was stunning too, bright sunshine and 20C!

    Enough waffle…some pics…

The Horseshoe pass, doing a reasonable impression of the Rhonda Run in Southern Spain!

This one reminded me of The Road to Heaven A7000 in Spain too!

Snowdonia National Park provided a suitably dramatic backdrop for lunch, where I actually DID have a light salad! Mind you I had a stonking great bacon and Egg roll at the Ponderosa earlier…

The real jewel we dug out was the little used B4391…the section from Festiniog to where it joins the A4212 enrout to Bala is perhaps one the very best bits of road I have ever ridden in the UK…I am so looking forward to having another go at it during the summer

I will and set up something for the TBF team!

2011 season has got of to a cracking start!

Impressive stuff, cheers for the pics. How were the potholes out there? Round here, the roads are still suffering an incredible amount of bike-crunching holes, really the worst I have seen for years.

We dont seem to have a pothole problem over here in Mid Wales, ‘A’ roads are extremely good on the whole, I dont find myself visibily scanning the roads, even for poor surfaces. Radar your luck was in, weather wise, we did Horseshoe Pass and Bala the previous Monday and got soaked through, our kit took three days to dry out.

I have owned my for 11 years now, cracking bike. You can keep them up relatively cheaply now too. £1500 would buy a really good one, probably less with your trade contacts
