One of our apprentices at work (James White) is competing in this year’s British Thunder Bike Championship on a 749 Ducati.
He is racing at Brands Hatch (Grand Prix Circuit) 21st& 22nd May. I’m going to go down on Sunday 22nd to show my support together with a few members of the works bike club.Tickets are a very reasonable £10 advance, £13 on the gate. (under 13’s free).

It’s always better to have someone to cheer for – so any of you up for a day of club racing and a chance to maybe meet the next Chris Walker?
The following quote is from the MCN – May 2007 (James went on to win the championship)
“Conti Cup UK, part of a worldwide race series, using full GP50cc machiney, all running to the same reg’s.
Past UK champions, include Scott Redding and Luke Mossey, and this looks like being the best year yet.
The grid was impressive in size, and the racing had spectators screaming from the sidelines, so close was the action, from first down to the last rider.
James White came home eventual winner, with a third, first and second. James was chased down for literally every inch of tarmac, with Tom Carne shocking everybody after switching from the V2 machine to the V3 only a matter of days before.
Connor Tagg managed to get a race win, but so hot was the action that his reward was third overall, fourth place man, Jamie Thackerey also won a race, race one, but it wasn’t enough overall.
This is going to be a cracker of a season.”

March 31, 2011 at 9:04 pm #62226RadarModeratorWell done to James, what is that new Snetters like? I used to go a lot when I lived up the road from it.
It was a B17 base in the war
March 31, 2011 at 9:19 pm #62227katanaParticipantI haven’t been to Snetterton since it’s been revamped. But used to sneak over the border from Suffolk to Snetterton quite a bit in the past.

Good progression from James this weekend at CadwellOn the podium in all 4 races with three 3rd places and a 2nd
Now 4th in the Championship
The team website up is now and running and he has even got himself a manager.
April 14, 2011 at 12:06 am #62229teamafterdarkParticipantCadwell was a great result for James and the team, please read the press release at http://www.teamafterdark.co.uk (its in the blog). We are in the process of taking the bike to the next level with an Ohlins rear shock and lightweight wheels, we have the rear wheel which has been kindly donated by Louigi Moto but we are struggling to find a front of a 749/999R.If anyone knows of one sat in a garage somewhere please let us know, It will help James get to the top of the podium. Next out we are at Pembrey, all the details are on the website. Please feel free to come along and join the team as we push to take the title.
Thanks for your support, we do really appreciate it.April 14, 2011 at 11:30 am #62230imperialdataKeymasterImpressive stuff and welcome to the forum Tim. Good luck for the upcoming races.
