Off for a ride with Shatterford MCC on Monday if anybody wants to join in. Heading for the excellent RAF Cosford Museum.
Set off from Kidderminster at 10:00am
May 7, 2010 at 3:05 pm #60662RadarModeratorThe Shatterford MCC is longstanding club, over 30 years now, that focuses on attending Rallies both here and abroad. However this year it has decided to try a few morning ride-outs and prominent club member and fellow TBF poster Panman invited me along for the first of these. We met up in Kidderminster and headed for the RAF museum Cosford near Telford. We took the senic route and the pace was gentle as Panman led the pack of 10 bikes on his Pan-European Honda. After a brief halt at Dinky’s Diner just outside Clent we made our way to the museum.
The venue itself is free to get in, however it is £2 to park for 3 hours. The standard of the exhibits mean this is still superb value though.
At this pont I will let the pics do the telling…
Gathering the bikes…10 in all…my Thundercat, Panmans…Pan, two Tigers, a FJR1300, a F6C. a 1800 Dragstar, a GTR1000 and a new BMW GS. The Yamaha 1800 had the loudest exhaust that i ever heard…awesome
Dinkys Diner, basic…but they do a lovely ‘salad’
Panman tucks in…I had my usual water cress on dry bread sandwich…
Vulcan bomber and Bloodhound missle
Hung vertically from the ceiling by cables…a Lightning in a dramatic pose
The oldest surviving Spitfire in the world…a 1939 Mk1
TSR2…A missed opportunity
Mosquito…the airframe is largely wooden
A GSXR for paratroopers…
A display of American ‘foriegn policy’
Shatterford MCCThe pace on the way back elevated somewhat and I had a bit of fun with one the Tiger ridiers and the chap on the new GS. Great fun. A brief stop at the cafe at Quatford for a cuppa and then onto the pub where I left the club members to their our devices.
A cracking day out! Cheers to all involved
