Hi to all…
I’m tony and I have a motorbike. Admitting to the problem is half the cure says the wife…I’m a motorcyclist not a chuffing alcoholic I keep telling her. Well now she’s locked in the shed she’s no problem…
Anyhow I’ve loved bikes since the early 80’s and bought my first in 81 a little Honda H100 (pics below) had it for just over a year then bought a new Suzuki GS550e. Was a little naughty in those days and rode it before passing my test for a couple of months. took it to France in 83. It rained like hell from Sutton Coldfield all the way through to Chataeuroux. It finally stopped, I looked up only to see a beautiful blue sky…Looked back down only to see a Peugeot 505 stopped at traffic lights. you can probably guess the rest of the story.
After repairing my GS (new wheel and straightning of forks etc etc) I sold it and bought a new Honda CB900F1 midnight on August the 1st 1984. Loved it to bits and had run it in by 6 that morning. Some bugger nicked it in May the nest year and didn’t ride again till March 2008 when i sold my car and bought a 1988 Kawasaki GPX600R. It was in mint condition with only 13k on the clock. I ride it all year round and now has 25k on the clock but still looks brand new. I’ve replaced the chain and sprockets and head bearings over the last couple of months and all the usual moinor service bits that you do. Had problems with dirty fuel last week but have flushed the tank and today the float pots. I just hope tmrw when the carbs go back in it runs smoothly…
Hope to speak to lots of you soon on this great site – Ta Ta for now
Tony

and some nerd standing next to itJanuary 28, 2010 at 9:06 pm #60221RadarModeratorGreat pics, I can’t beleive you were off bikes for 24 years!
I liked the bit about riding the 900 through the pub! A bloke I worked with in Norfolk rode his 900 Ducati up to the counter at Burger King in Norwich and they served him.
As for the picture of the ‘nerd’…I think we have our picture of the month! Have you seen the pic of me on my CB100N from around the same era…we were all so cool back then!
Anyway be good to see out and about in the summer!

My Goodness – Great pictures bud, Takes me back.
I’m sure there will be a TBF ride out coming as soon as the weather picks up, and that will be a great chance to see a few of the guys and girls who enjoy the site.
Loved the story & pictures, and hope to see you and the GPX soon.

January 29, 2010 at 4:30 pm #60225notlob64ParticipantOk I won’t tell you it’s a CB arial. Well…………ok it is. A mate of mine rigged up an ear piece and mic in my helmet and also a mic button on the handle bar. Now then, is those days it was quite cool. Remember it was the 80s. Not got one on my GPX.
Cheers Tony

It was a huge craze around 82/3 I remember loads of people had them. The courier company I worked for in 85 used them too, but the mobile phone has just about killed the CB stone dead.
Incidentally I have nominated the pic of you with the H100 as pic of the month and added this thread to the recommended list for the site
