A motorcyclist who was clocked at 112mph on the A7 in the Scottish Borders has avoided a driving ban.
Ian Dunsmore, 43, of Hillfoot Gardens, Uddingston, was caught travelling at almost double the speed limit on the road on 6 September.
Selkirk Sheriff Court heard he had since put his 1000cc bike up for sale.
Sheriff Jamie Gilmour said he took into the account that Dunsmore had not put anyone else in danger and fined him £300 and put six points on his licence.

saying that 6pts will hurt insurance wise just as much as a ban and it means he’ll be half way to a 6month ban. I’ve been pretty lucky (I think) with my 2nd ban being 2wks and my 3rd being 28days. My 1st was for totting up and it really hurt not being able to get about for 6months!
