Basically very cool looking, not so sure about the ‘piss holes in the snow’ headlights however…

and the real thing from 1981

I vaguely remember Honda doing a limited edition CB250N in these colours too.

What is the matter with me? I seem to have gone all gooey about Hondas all of a sudden. It looks lovely.
You are right about the headlights, I guess they got caught in the retro conundrum – the 1981 headlamps were not that great, and to go for LED’s, or other very modern trends would also look strange.
Its like the BMW MIMI & VW Beetle – how do they restyle them? – difficult without totally loosing the point.
Glad to say I prefer the Honda!

Are thy going into production Radar? – I might have to break my piggy bank!

You know when they put donkeys out to sanctuaries that have got really bent backs through years of being ridden on beaches by kids? Well that’s what the original always reminds me of (although I am a bit weird sometimes). Years of family holidays in Weston Super Mare must have some psychological effect I guess.

The new one is a nice attempt but those headlights can be the styling downfall as you both say. It’s OK being retro when the old design was a classic but in this case it was a cheap ABS moulding process afterthought.

The headlamps look as if they are styled on the older endurance-race type that were simple round units set into otherwise sleek race fairings back in the 80’s. Nowt wrong with that in Gordy’s book.

    However two worrying points…
    1. After 27 years there should be a damn site (sight?) more progress than stuff like this… sure it will handle and stop better than the 80’s bikes, but in reality it’s just another very conventional motorcycle.
    2. B_gger-damn, b_gger-damn, I really quite like it !!!!!!!
