Hello, just got back on two wheels after a few years in a car ,got a `97 suzi gs500 to get back into it,had one or two problems but can any one tell me about the hose that runs from beneath the air filter and comes out by the brake peg, there`s a split in the end and it`s dripping petrol(it looks like it is a sealed end),is it a case of new hose and sorted or is there a problem causing petrol to drip and maybe that`s what rotted the hose??
All suggestions would be greatly appreciated,, cheers!!!!

Sounds like your fuel breather. Get it checked and also check your fuel cap is clean. There is a small hole to allow fuel vapour to escape in small quantities to allow for fuel expansion. This could be blocked.

Hi Morty. Sometimes a sticking or badly adjusted float on the carburettor can cause overflowing through this pipe. The owner’s manual will tell you how to check and adjust the carburettor float height. Shouldn’t be the petrol that rotted the pipe though, more likely it’s 10 years of sun, rain and road crap that has taken its toll. Shortening it may be an option if it still exits clear of the bike.
