Fire bikes to attend road crashes
The fire service on Merseyside is to use a motorbike to make sure firefighters get to the scene of accidents as quickly as possible.
The “fire bike” will be sent to the scene of road accidents, but when not in use it will be used to spread a safety message across the community.
Firefighters were called out to over 1,000 road traffic accidents last year.
A similar fire bike was launched last year to attend automatic fire alarms in Liverpool city centre.
When not in use the bike will display fire safety messages and will be the focal point at various community activities.
