Police warn the bikes could be impounded and destroyed
Police in Bristol say people who use mini-motorbikes and Go-Peds on roads could have them seized and destroyed.
Officers have new powers to impound any motor vehicle that is being driven by someone on a road with no insurance or driving licence.

“A licence and insurance covering the use on a road of the seized vehicle must be produced for the vehicle to be released,” a police spokesman said.

“The likelihood is that the machines will be destroyed if seized,” he added.

Sergeant Andy McIlrath, added: “We are receiving a number of calls from the public reporting both youngsters and adults riding mini motorcycles on roads, footpaths and public areas such as common land and parks.

“With the longer evenings and better weather it is anticipated the use of mini-motos will increase. Parents need to realise these motorcycles are not toys and they are putting their children in considerable danger by allowing use of them.”

He added: “We will take positive action on anyone who is identified using these motorcycles in any place where the public have access and will be seizing these machines which will then be destroyed.”
