Police in Derbyshire are launching a campaign to reduce the number of deaths and injuries involving motorcyclists on the county’s roads.
Several traffic departments as well as the Derbyshire Safety Camera Partnership will work together on roads deemed to be the most dangerous.

The teams will make sure speed limits and other traffic regulations are followed by bikers and drivers.

The number of motorcyclist deaths rose from 10 in 2004 to 16 in 2005.

Ch Insp Paul Berry, head of Derbyshire Police’s road policing unit, said: “All the analysis we have conducted in reference to collisions and fatalities involving motorcycles in Derbyshire points to the rider travelling too fast.

“We are determined to reduce the number of people who die on the roads and we will continue to take a hard line on those who break the law.”

The routes will be policed on Sundays and Bank Holidays between March and September.
