Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr at end of tether! Now, I love my music, but havin problems with my stereo system, been havin problems for ages. The cds all skip, doesnt matter what cd, any cd, they all jump and somehow the likes of Iron maiden just dont sound too good when they skipping backwards all the time. I have a disc cleaner, have cleaned all cds, I bought a lens cleaner, and have cleaned that several times but still the same. Any advice?
January 21, 2006 at 2:37 pm #43127sidParticipantis it worn cd’s or worn player?
some people say put your cd’s in the freezer overnight and it “repairs” minor damage but havent tried it myself yetJanuary 21, 2006 at 2:38 pm #43128GixParticipantAll my cdsdo the same, originals, backups, all of them, even the kids story cds. I am actually playing them on dvd player now and playing fine, and the play fine in pc but speakers are shite, so guess it must be my stereo.[V]

Thats what I thought, but a lens cleaner should clear it shouldn’t it?

The cover will have to come off and you will need to find the drive motor, then see if the band is perished or slack. Move the spindle with your finger and push in on the band to see if there is not much resistance etc. It may not be accessible mate, so you might have to get an engineer to check it.

No they are tall ones that stand on the floor, and yes have turned Bass right down incase it was the vibration lol[]
January 21, 2006 at 4:37 pm #43136sidParticipantmost lens cleaners do more damage than good if you try b2bm’s idea give the lens a wipe with a Q-tip at the same time also the drive wheel might be worn on its spindle causing it to slip

January 21, 2006 at 4:54 pm #43138GixParticipantyes I understand fully what you are both saying and will look at it when I get chance, sid it jumps as if there is summat on cd and wont go past that point. If the reader or drive wheel thingy majobby is knackered, its a new player yes?[:0] Geez I’m glad I got dvd player….[]
January 21, 2006 at 4:57 pm #43139sidParticipantif the readers knackered depends on the players value as to whether its worth fixing if the drive wheels loose try superglue check if you have an aux-in plug you might pick up a stand alone cd player on ebay a bit cheaper
January 21, 2006 at 5:00 pm #43140GixParticipantNo if its knackered I will have to wait till I got some cash spare, have just bought a new sink, and got to get the worktops and cupboards yet cos me kitchen is falling apart….priorities an all that crap[]
