I’m currently working on getting revenue from this site to (at least) fund itself. Rather than put those obtrusive adverts everywhere I started by putting a search box for Google at the top. It’s quite useful, but if you want to hack Firefox a bit and support this site then have a bash at this:
To get a search from anywhere by using Firefox’s address bar make a bookmark with the following:
Title: Google TBF
Location (right click and copy link location): https://www.google.co.uk/custom?q=%s&sa=Search&client=pub-6973403628956911&forid=1&ie=ISO-8859-1&oe=ISO-8859-1&cof=GALT%3A%23008000%3BGL%3A1%3BDIV%3A%23336699%3BVLC%3A663399%3BAH%3Acenter%3BBGC%3AFFFFFF%3BLBGC%3A336699%3BALC%3A0000FF%3BLC%3A0000FF%3BT%3A000000%3BGFNT%3A0000FF%3BGIMP%3A0000FF%3BFORID%3A1%3B&hl=en
Keyword: g
Now when you’re searching for something from the address bar, if you type g and the text of your search it raises a fraction of a cent for the site. And I do mean a fraction, but in a few years who knows?!
Example: g bike forum imperialdata
And guess who comes out top of the search []

life sucks get used to it
January 3, 2006 at 8:03 pm #40930imperialdataKeymasterPlease note, if you do this, then search from the main address bar and not the small Google bar in firefox.

January 3, 2006 at 11:37 pm #40934GSX RatParticipantwhy dont you set up a script does searches from a set list of keywords that you get paid for then continually refreshes, make you a fraction several times a minute and leave it running 24/7

@GSX Ratbiker: Google are wise to that one, apparently they look for several things like auto scripts etc. Unless you know something different….?

January 25, 2006 at 2:56 pm #40936imperialdataKeymasterA few people asked me to make it idiot-proof, so here goes:
In Firefox, right click and copy link location from my first post
Right click a blank area of the bookmark bar (where you see Latest Headlines etc)
Select ‘New Bookmark’
In the name field type ‘Google TBF’
In the location field, paste the link location you copied from my first post
In the keyword field type ‘g’
OK and there you have it, a search from the address bar by typing g and space and your word(s) for searching on! - AuthorPosts
