anyone know where i can find an online guide to stripping USD forks? if possible YZF750 but if theres a universal guide that might do[

A broom handle, and an allen key usually does it for me.

In the bottom of the forks theres an allen screw which holds the stanchion in place, sometimes when trying to undo the allen key the internals turn, so I shape a broom handle to fit into the end of the stanchion. Knock the broom handle into the bottom of the stanchion. This makes it easier to undo the allen screw

ok i wont ask any more questions until i’m ready to strip the forks gotta finish the new subframe and zorst 1st but i’m hoping to get that done this week then expect lots of pm’s lol

ok one more question whats the best thing for stripping annodizing off the fork legs its a bugger doing it with the rough polishing wheel lol

lye is Caustic soda – haven’t tried this but I used to deal with subcontract anodizers and one of the first tanks in the process was caustic so it sounds feasible.

thanks kat not sure if i’d trust myself to do that right first time i’ll have to find something to practice with
any other suggestions? would paint stripper work if left long enough?

would it soften it up sufficently to let the sisal mop do the rest?

You could try it but you are in danger of removing it unevenly. I would think submerging the part and checking it regulary would be best.
Anodizing is only a way of increasing the thickness the oxide film that naturally forms on the surface of Aluminium. This film is then dyed and sealed an is generally harder then the base metal. Mr Muscle probarbly also contains surfactants which might damage the surface of the base material and make it hard to get a good polish on it afterwards.

i havent decided on a polished finish yet one idea for the streetfighter is “stealth” dont know if its been done before but it would involve a lot of dark finishes obviously lol i’m just trying to do as much of the work myself as possible
A: to keep the cost down
B: to give me more to spend on things i’m not able to do such as billet worklife sucks get used to it
