    Page 15 of ‘MCN’ has the story, of a failed or missing oil seal, causing an oil blow-out, which could have killed the rider of a GSXR1000.

    Regardless of the ins and outs of this case, i find it highly unacceptable that when MCN contacted Bridge Motorcycles of Exeter, they refused to comment. It is just as bad that the dealer is now ignoring the rider also.

    HTF is that going to inspire confidence in the owner of said bike but also in the rest of us if we ever have any problems with a new machine?

    Refusing to comment to the major UK motorcycle publication is pathetic, something i have told the company myself today.

    if theyre a suzuki main dealer they will be under strict instruction not to comment upon risk of losing the franchise
    would you risk it? i wouldnt

    As it was a serious fault they could have at least explained what they had done and whether other owners should be concerned or not.
    I see what you are saying, but mere silence is unacceptable, at least imo.

    Seems everyone is too frightened to comment on anything these days for fear of being sued. As you say though, it just makes the situation even worse.

    It reminds me of the brand new Honda CB750KZ i had, back in 1979. This is a rarely-seen bike nowadays, brought out just before the better-known CB900F and probably the first mass-produced bike with 16-valves, i would reckon.
    (?).

    Anyway, the back end slid badly on a couple of bends and i knew something was up. As i limped home, the back slid again, riding into the driveway, but i just assumed it was the light night rain we were seeing.

    The following morning and all was revealed.
    Where i park my bike was just a sea of 10W40.
    The bike had been on it’s side stand and most of the engine oil had emerged from behind the countershaft sprocket. A real mess to clean up or what!

    Honda soon made the necessary recall and the bike was fixed under warranty, as were quite a few others affected in the same way.

    Nice bike, really well made and quick for a heavy and quiet 750.
