Howdy all.
My names Paul, i’m 18 next month. Been riding since i was 12, started on a 19yr old Honda CG125, which was ragged around a field then turned into a road bike. Then took my test and passed 2nd time round exactly 1 month after being on the road.
Bought myself a ER5, but 2 and half months ago i was in a serious crash were a car pulled out on me and i ended up with a fractured collar bone and a fractured T12 (for the non medical people inc myself thats one of the vertibrae in the spinal colum) Am still in a back brace and will be for another few months. Can’t ride and am still in pain every know and again.
Bought myself another ER5 last week and can’t wait ti get out and be able to ride again. I would like a GSXR 600 K4 but insurance won’t let me atm.
I’m also a member on Bikechatforums, Westmidsriders and essexbikers and also have built my own forum for Bikers in and around coventry which is http://www.coventrybikers.co.uk – still only small but its slowly growing. Built that as i’m moving up to coventry in sept for uni.
Anyways now i’ve bored you all to death, i’ll let you be. Speak to some of you soon, and maybe see you on some rideouts once i’m back on the bike.
Paul

LOVE IS GIVING SOMEONE THE ABILITY TO DESTROY YOU, THEN TRUSTING THEM NOT TO.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, VODKA in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming…….WOO HOO, WHAT A RIDE!!
July 19, 2005 at 12:06 am #29449DiggerParticipantHello Paulodd, welcome to the forum.Bummer having the brace on for a few more months, why not try the Honda 600 hornet, their fast and have the blade wheels, cbr engine (detuned)and are nimble and very good in the twisties.Very underestimated street bike, insurance good too.
Take it easy out there
July 19, 2005 at 12:15 am #29450pauloddParticipantCheers for the warm welcomes. Yup got several more months in the back brace, its a pain in the arse while its this warm/sweaty. Miss the bike OOOOooooo soooooooo much. F*cked up my whole summer holiday like; cldn’t go on holiday, had to quit the TA, cldn’t do my skydive for charity and had to cancel my tour of eng, scot and wales on the bike.
I’ve been pretty much sitting around all day doing sod all, thats why i built the coventrybikers forum, so it would give me something to do. Was my first day back to work at one of my 3 jobs today.
Digger thanks for the bike advice, but i literally just bought another ER5 on saturday. 15,000miles, 12 months MOT and Tax, blue, new oil and filter, newish chain and sprokets, both tires have several thousand more miles on them – £1250 that includes him bringing it from North Yorkshire down to Essex. Spoke to my solicitor today about the legal side of riding while still claiming for compensation and he said i can’t ride. So looks like i’m just going to be pollishing it and tarting it up
July 19, 2005 at 6:41 am #29451ScouserParticipantWelcome paulodd. Impressed with your committment to get back on your bike following your accident, sounds as though you were lucky with your back, but your young and you ‘bounce’ well not like us old codgers. What are you doing at Uni?
Get well soonBe seen and be Safe!

July 19, 2005 at 1:25 pm #29454barmy_carmyParticipantHiya Paulodd, Welcome to the loony bin Lol! Sorry to hear of your accident, and I can imagine the pain your going through, I have a crumbling spine due to spinal Arthritis, so pain is not a stranger to me either! Come and join in the banter Lol! you’d be more than welcome. And you need something to keep your mind off pain, best way to do that is yak to other people. But the thought of being able to get on your bike and go for a blat, that’S what keeps ya going, something to look forward too! Wah Hey! ya know that Adrenalin Rush, quite a few adrenalin junkies here Lol! Sincerely hope you get better soon.

July 19, 2005 at 5:53 pm #29456barmy_carmyParticipantAnkylosing Spondaelitis (the severe form) and a Psoriasis Arthritis. Daves got Rheumatoid Arthritis. As long as we can get back on bike without having to take painkillers, we’re ok, Not going to let Arthritis spoil our fun, except this time got us beat, just a temporary Gliche………..Thinking positive helps.

Did a charity skydive a few years back and I had a bloody hard landing, not what you need at the moment. Good luck with the Cov bikers site, put links on here when you want.

July 23, 2005 at 2:24 pm #29461katanaParticipantWelcome M8.
hope you get well soon – You could always make a belly pan for the ER out of the back brace when you’ve finished with it!
I’m not too far from Coventry (Evesham in Worcestershire) so maybe see you around when you’re back in the saddle (or riding the bike).
Donut – I mean DONATE!
