Hiya everyone,
I really hope you don’t mind me crashing your forum, but I’m hoping there may be someone here who can help me.
I’m a 23yr old female from Peterborough who’s been working in the bike industry for about a year or so now and I’m absolutely loving it! Never imagined in my wildest dreams I’d wind up doing this, but I am, and I think it’s the way forward for me! I’m working trackside at the moment, selling and changing tyres, and supplying parts and accessories to club racers. But I’m having to leave my job soon because the travelling is getting too much for me.
I desperately want to stay working with bikes and bikers though, in some capacity at least, but my relativley limited experience is making it hard for me to get a break.
Does anyone have any suggestions of where I might try, or even just some words of advice?? I’d be SO gratefull.. []
Thank you all. x

Can I call you Reg ?
How about working for MCN ?.they are based in or around Peterborough..and they are looking for a trainee journalist.
Also theres a classifieds section in MCN for bike related jobs, i know someone who got a job in a dealership selling Dainese leathers via an ad in MCN.
“he passed me that fast he was suckin rabbits out the hedges”

LOVE IS GIVING SOMEONE THE ABILITY TO DESTROY YOU, THEN TRUSTING THEM NOT TO.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, VODKA in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming…….WOO HOO, WHAT A RIDE!!

I don’t actually have a bike at the moment, I got into bikes completely by accident, never even knew I’d be interested in them before I started working here… I took an office job with a company that did ‘something with bikes’ lol… And two years later, here I am, working trackside, and completely hooked! lol. Now I’ve just got to wait for my knowledge and ability to catch up with my enthusiasm! []
July 5, 2005 at 3:04 pm #28995reggysprincessParticipantThanks Scouser…! I’ve called a few of the places on those lists, actually got an interveiw Saturday already!
Barmy – Thanks for the good wishes sweetie, and I’ll quite happily join in the fun here, I’m sure I can learn a thing or two from you guys! I’ll appologise now tho, for any dumb questions I may ask in the future! lol []
July 5, 2005 at 7:44 pm #28996poohchickParticipantI’m a big newby myself Reg, so don’t worry bout it, I’m sure I will be dropping myself in the “daft question” pit at some point! In fact it may be very soon, watch this space, I am building up the courage to ask some (what I think) daft questions about my bike!!! lol x Good luck for Saturday, shall keep me fingers and toes crossed, if not all the best for the future, you shouldn’t have any problems at all! xx
WIT WOO Lets have fun! Experience is the best knowledge x

Take it easy out there
July 6, 2005 at 10:05 am #28999reggysprincessParticipantThanks guys! [] []
I know just what you mean Digger, my travelling during the week isn’t too bad, probably about 40 mins or so, but weekends are the killer, the closest track is an hour away, and the furthest is probably about 3 hours away, and when you’re doing a good 12 hour working day anyway, it can really get too much! Well, it HAS got too much.
Thanks again guys for all the support… With all this good luck you’re wishing me, surely SOME of it’s gotta stick! lol. []
July 6, 2005 at 11:22 pm #29000GSF K1ParticipantHiya Reg.. welcome to the site.. nice to hear from someone from my end of the country at last (I’m also in Peterborough)!!!… mostly everone else is scattered around, though some of us have met up.
If you’re interested in getting onto bikes (as well as getting into biking), have you been to the guys at Taz Bikes???.. very helpful bunch, it just changed hands and merged with Ryders-Motorcycles.
Get yourself sorted onto a machine and lets get cruising!
Go out with a BANG… Light a fart!
July 7, 2005 at 4:03 pm #29001reggysprincessParticipantHiya GSF []
So good to meet a fellow Peterborough local on here! []
I have heard good things about Taz actually, never ventured over there myself tho… I’ve been hoping my fella can find me a bargain bike and sort it all out for me to be honest (he’s got his own customising business in Woodston) but you know what it’s like… Wait for a man…. lol [] I’m never gonna get away with that on here am I?? lol.
