I believe it actualy used loads of mecanno elec motors and a 12v one to help with the hills. The MGP or festival of motorcycling has been a mega success this year in its new format, such a buzz going on. Maybe better than the TT for next year.

Hi Radar, Iam going to stick with garmin because I’ve got used to the basecamp programs. As the machine, a bike one is overly expensive and I use it mainly to find campsites and as kmph speedo.
A cheepish car jobbie with a SD slot should work just fine.

The Streetpilot 111 is so slow and when it dose get me completely in the sticks it just gives up. On the plus side I’ve seen some cracking remote places in Spain and Portugal.

Going to buy a new one as my previous have all been 2nd hand and could never register them with Garmin. I only use the thing for getting thru citys , finding campsites and sometimes download openmaps for greater detail. I would like to hard wire it to the bike but will need a 12v to usb under the tank, most ive used only last a few weeks. Has anyone had a solution to this?

After a mad rush from St Malo to Vianna do Costelo. then spending a few days in the region hopping from campsite to campsite I’ve seen very few bikes on tour and yet have to meet anyone whos first landuage is English. The Portuagise are great, very hospitable and speek better english than I do. Internet access is good and free everywhere the only problem is keeping everything charged from the 12v bike socket.

Just lovely for the sunshine, cracking shotgun pipes bet they set the odd car alarm off. Health to enjoy.

I’ve a couple others as well and will sort out pics later. Think its best to have a variety of reasonably priced bikes, possibly one for each season to begin with rather than one expensive bike. All my bikes are over 10 years old but I allways search for the best example and buy well out of season.

Bike of course, my trusty BMW Gs 1100 she’s heavy and old but plods along without complaint, even snaps at the heels and embarrses a few hyper sports bikes over the mountain when we’re both up for it.
