Dad and James went to fetch the bike yesterday for me.
Had a look at it and came up with a list of things to fix:
– Tax disc holder
– Clutch lever
– Head lamp rim (possibly)
– Foot rest (pair)
– Gear lever
– Flasher unit (possibly)
– Oil and filter
– Chain and sprocket
Going to price up some things on eBay and see what I can find.February 1, 2014 at 5:58 pm #67443katanaParticipant
Might have a spare universal flasher unit in the garage if you need one?February 1, 2014 at 7:35 pm #67444
Not 100% sure what is up with the indicators yet, but thank you I shall let you know if its neededFebruary 2, 2014 at 4:38 pm #67445HippoDronesParticipant

Zippy hopes to get going on this Sunday, once she has finished work. Will be interesting to see how it pans outFebruary 9, 2014 at 6:16 pm #67447
Started to do a little bit of work on the bike today !
– Took the battery put and put it on charge (bike still not starting so we will leave it on charge for a bit longer)
– Put some WD40 on the main stand and side stand to loosen them up a bit. working a lot better now.
– Polished the front forks a bit
– Pumped the tyres up
Hopefully after a good charge the battery will work and we can get the bike startedFebruary 9, 2014 at 7:25 pm #67448Swindon AndyParticipant
WD40 is great for freeing things off, but it isn’t a very good lasting lubricant. I got an aerosol of spray grease for that sort of thing – stands, car door hinges etc.. It goes on thin and runny, then sets into a grease. Got mine from Halfords.February 9, 2014 at 10:07 pm #67449HippoDronesParticipant
aye, if you don’t have any grease, as a temp measure use chain lubeFebruary 14, 2014 at 9:24 pm #67450
Tried the battery today.. still no joy. I think a new battery will be needed.
Going to try and bump start it tomorrow and see if that worksFebruary 15, 2014 at 11:46 am #67451imperialdataKeymaster
There’s nothing like bump starting a bike down a hill. The challenge of getting it started before you reach the bottom and have to push it back up again is huge.
No pressure!February 15, 2014 at 7:37 pm #67452
just ordered a new battery and a gear lever, should be here within a weekFebruary 16, 2014 at 7:20 pm #67453
Tried to bump start the bike today. still not got it running… although it was funnyFebruary 17, 2014 at 10:49 am #67454imperialdataKeymaster
Lol. Did you do the “Push of shame” up the hill?February 17, 2014 at 11:10 pm #67455RadarModerator
We actually increased the mileage of the SR by 0.3 of a mile!
I think fresh fuel is neededFebruary 21, 2014 at 6:02 pm #67456
The battery and gear lever arrived. Fitted the gear lever without much trouble.
As for the battery, unfortunately we have the wrong one and we are sorting this out with the seller on ebay. Hopefully the new battery and some fresh fuel will get the bike going.
