Situation was this, a guy had all sorts of financial and marital hassle, including bailiffs turning up at his door and so he knew his beloved Ducati 998S had to go. He had held on to it way longer than he should have, as it was his ‘baby’ and he had spent months getting it how he wanted, with engine work, carbon pipes, Marchesini wheels and all the rest. A fortune spent, perhaps as much as £18,000.
Needy soon turned to desperate and so he offered it for £9K, no offers. Then £9K with offers, finally £7,500 no offers.
On the day it simply had to go, a fella from London bid him ‘between the goolies’ with £5K, which he eventually and with great pain accepted, but before the guy came back to collect it, the owner decided he had been ‘turned over’ and took drastic action.

Cancelled the sale? Nope. Diluted the engine oil with weedkiller!!!!!!!
Result, the engine clanked and rattled and then seized after 15 miles.

When this story was related to me earlier today (from the Liverpool area) I felt physically sick, because I have a high degree of mechanical sympathy. I just don’t understand some people.

    NEW BIKE ON FRIDAY!!!

LOVE IS GIVING SOMEONE THE ABILITY TO DESTROY YOU, THEN TRUSTING THEM NOT TO.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, VODKA in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming…….WOO HOO, WHAT A RIDE!!

How did they find that out? Forensic test or did he come clean about the weedkiller?

Was going to make a joke about ‘Grasstrol GTX’ but I have mechanical sympathy too.

To offer 5 grand for 9 grands worth of bike is taking advantage of someone elses misfortune – everyone likes a bargain but thats taking the piss.

Personally, i would have though after blatently ripping someone off he would have checked all that sort of thing as there’s one thing for sure in life – People absolutely hate being ripped off.

I slept with faith and found a corpse in my arms on awakening; I drank and danced all night with doubt and found her a virgin in the morning.

Firstly, you are hardly going to do an oil change before you ride the thing home!

Secondly, it was the only offer the guy got, so the market place decides these days. I cannot fathom deliberately wrecking the engine of your pride and joy simply because you have sold it.

Incidentally, the repair bill for the engine will be £1500.
