The Yamaha Motor Germany duo of Broc Parkes and Kevin Curtain went second and third, but candidate for rider of the day again was Winston Ten Kate Honda’s Kenan Sofuoglu, who scored fourth place on the provisional grid, on his very first visit to the Phillip Island track.
Another young rider with a fast and mature opening performance at PI was Frenchman Yoann Tiberio (Megabike Honda), who led Mauro Sanchini (RG Team Yamaha) Robbin Harms (Stiggy Motorsports Honda) and stand-in Gil Motorsports Kawasaki rider, Dean Thomas.
