These motorbikes look like pretty racey, but not because they go very fast – they’re actually made up from multiple naked athletic models.
The dirt bike, cruiser and sports bike are the creations of body paint artist Trina Merry whose amazing work blurs the lines of reality.
Trina and her models took anything from 13 to 18 hours to form the life-like motorcycles which have now been chosen to front a huge US motor show.
Using hypoallergenic natural body paint Trina has covers her human canvases – who are completely naked except for patches covering their modesty.
Posing for periods of five to six minutes at a time over up to 18 hours the models are put together like human Meccano to make these incredible machines.
The models are painted to varying degrees over the course of the shoot before completing the finished work.
Trina, from San Francisco, California, has worked all over the world with her body art after deciding to take a break from a career designing for films and TV in Hollywood.
She said she trained under renowned body painter Craig Tracy before becoming a master herself.
She said: “I suppose it started when I went to a rock concert working with an Australian band, they asked me to get on stage covered in body paint and Iended up doing it in front of 300 people.
“I left Hollywood and started to paint bodies and exhibit in the San Francisco Bay area, now I must have painted 100s of different people.
“I started initially painting your size 8 and size 6 fashion models but have gone to paint athletes because it’s actually a real workout holding the posing for 18 hours, six minutes in position and five minutes being painted back and fourth.
“I am a conceptual artist and often I am inspired but the bodies themselves by what they can and can’t do.”
Trina’s latest work featuring the three types of motorbikes for the Progressive International Motorbike Shows that will be touring the US this year.
She said: “Everyone has seen the pictures of scantily clad women next to motorbikes and cars and it can look a bit trashy.
“I wanted to take the idea of a beautiful woman and the motorbike and turn it on it’s head by making the bike from the bodies of the models.
“Nothing like this has ever been done before.”
