wheelie
ParticipantJust looking back with some mates at biking in the seventies & eighties. Does anyone else think it was more fun then or am I on my own on this one? Just to help you decide:
Speed cameras weren’t that common.
Bikes that couldn’t handle as well and needed lots of respect and rider skills.
Cheaper insurance.
Not as much choice (I think it’s a plus sometimes)
2 – strokes in abundance
DIY electrics and mechanics
Cars had worse brakes (better if you’re following them believe me!)
Any comments on this one?
I’ve donated to the forum, have you?

ParticipantIt was very good fun, could party hard in those days, But the British bikes were totally unreliable, but easy to fix, down side you got pretty oily, perhaps thats why they changed from Rockers to Greasers. But most of the old bikers I know that partyed hard, have all got some form of Arthritis. But didnt we Live to ride, and still do but on a faster more reliable bike. And as for speed cameras if facing one, Dave opens her up and we put our 2 fingers up. Hate speed cameras, and if only the government would get into their thick heads its bad driving that kills!
No1 ride, our FZX750

ParticipantI was a bit young back then, but have ridden plenty of old 2 strokes, some real fun, some real er….interesting! You can have fun on any bike, you just gotta find the best way of riding each bike on roads the bike is suited to.[

ParticipantPeople used to think you were mad if you went for the ton……braking wasn’t very good either…..but what hairaising fun that used to be Lol! The one thing I do remember too….your fellow biker was like your fellow brother or sister, was like one big family! I can remember the days when bikers gathered at the local cafe’s and listen to the jukebox….and can remember the roar of twenty odd bikes revving away and off riding to meet other bikers and going on a run……Sorry folks just remenicing!

I had 3 superdreams and I am strangely fascinated with them, but they are dull. I had a RD250LC at the same time as the 1 st one and a RD350F2 at the same time as the 3rd, so perhaps they suffered unfairly!
I make light look slow
