ModeratorBit nerdy this one, but what is your favourite engine layout…
Aircooled Four, V4, 2 stroke twin??
For me it would have to be a watercooled across the frame four as I have such a bike for the last 14 years! However I have a big soft spot for the following too
V twins
Singles
V4’sSo my top 3 is;
1. Watercooled across the frame 4
2. Two stroke watercooled twin
3. Air cooled four stroke singleAny thoughts?
Is it all real??

NEW BIKE ON FRIDAY!!!LOVE IS GIVING SOMEONE THE ABILITY TO DESTROY YOU, THEN TRUSTING THEM NOT TO.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, VODKA in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming…….WOO HOO, WHAT A RIDE!!

Participanthad in-line 4’s but love the V twin sound especially when shutting off the throttle and you get that lovely deep popping, throbing, vibrating, baratone…noise from the shiney things at the back.
Be seen and be Safe!

ParticipantWe got and in-line four and with current exhaust got a lovely deep throaty growl. Always had V twins previously, but got to say love the performance of an in-line four!
I’m not riding fast, I’m just flying low. and please DONATE to this website

ParticipantRight now, I would say a 2.3 litre triple with a free-breathing exhaust system, but that would be a little biased! (The new pipes do sound rather good though).
The scream of a 6-pot Honda CBX with a 6 into 1 takes some beating, (I have an early, non-faired one with a Yoshimura exhaust).
My RG500 Gamma sounded pretty good at 10,000 rpm (square-four two-stroke tuned by Stan Stephens).
