November 13, 2005 at 9:43 am #35809GSXR1000ParticipantIt is a beautiful 1974 Ducati Desmo 450 in yellow. Got it for an absolute song and will be doing what little is needed over winter.
November 13, 2005 at 9:49 am #35810GSXR1000ParticipantOnly needs wheels rebuilding, (spoked with stainless rims), a top-end freshen on the engine and some re-chroming.
A re-wire will pretty much complete the picture. (There again, I had a 250 Desmo and a re-wire would have been a good idea from new…)
Lots of work has already been done and over £1000 spent in new parts over the past 2 years. These bikes were brilliant in their day.
My 1975 250 Desmo did an indicated 115 mph on the ludicrously innacurate speedometer, but still equated with a genuine 95 mph, seeing off for top speed my friends’ Suzuki GT250M and Yamaha RD250A and out-handling them both on the road and at Brands hatch.Quality of some parts was frankly laughable, but as a sports 250 it was unrivalled at the time.
November 13, 2005 at 9:51 am #35811GSXR1000ParticipantOh, I got it for £600.
November 13, 2005 at 9:51 am #35812GixParticipantso wheres the pics then?
LOVE IS GIVING SOMEONE THE ABILITY TO DESTROY YOU, THEN TRUSTING THEM NOT TO.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, VODKA in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming…….WOO HOO, WHAT A RIDE!!
November 13, 2005 at 9:52 am #35813ScouserParticipantAny pictures GSXR?

Yes, just like that only not as good.
November 13, 2005 at 10:50 am #35817GSXR1000Participant‘Before’ pics would be a while back, as restoration is three-quarters done.
Will post some finished ones though.
November 13, 2005 at 11:11 pm #35818RadarModeratorThat should be a lovely bike when finished, keep us updated. Be good to see it next summer!
