If you were stuck in a traffic jam that you could not filter through in this really hot weather, how long could you leave your bike ticking over for and what damage can it do?
My current bike is water cooled and this does not effect me but my old bike, GSX1100F I had to switch off when stuck in queues for Donnington and Cadwell.

My cooling fan kicks in around 104, although I start to get concerned around the 90 mark. I usually wait till the fan comes on, then hit the kill switch and let the fan do its work. Restart when it gets back down around the 80 mark. Its better if you can get a clear run and a bit of fresh air round the radiator though. Overheating can blow head gaskets, water hoses etc.

Yes the fan on my bike kicks in around 104 or 105 though it wasnt particularly effective yesterday stuck in traffic….went and found some shade and cooled off in the end.
